Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Project Managers in overseeing all aspects of commercial construction projects, from pre-construction to project completion.
Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
Help manage subcontractor relationships, including contract negotiation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Track project progress, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Review project drawings and specifications to ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved plans and building codes.
Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including progress reports, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and submittals.
Conduct site visits to monitor work progress, quality, safety standards, and compliance with regulations.
Assist in resolving any on-site issues, including managing change orders and coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
Ensure proper handling of project documentation and help manage cost control, including tracking invoices and payment schedules.
Support the Project Manager in all aspects of project management, from inception to final project closeout.
Qualifications:
~ Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
~2-3 years of experience in commercial construction or related field (preferably in an Assistant Project Manager or similar role).
~ Strong knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, etc.).
~ Ability to interpret construction documents, including blueprints, contracts, and specifications.
~ Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
~ Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
~ Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on quality control and safety compliance.
~ Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and construction industry standards in Virginia.
~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.).
