Currently hiring for the position of Mechanical & Electrical Technician to assemble, maintain and repair roofing machinery. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems, including Leister equipment, generators, Cleasby Conveyors Systems and other related tools and machinery used by roofing contractors. Light electrical wiring needed at times - prior experience and/or knowledge is a plus. PTO knowledge is also a plus. Willing to train but some prior experience is needed.

Must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.

Responsibilities:

• Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
• Inspect machines, engines, and run tests to discover functionality issues
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine
• Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, small engines and small electrical motors)
• Keep logs of work and report on issues
• Electrical wiring knowledge that will differ with each unit

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components
• Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
• A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
• Very good communication skills
• A problem-solving ability
• Very good physical strength and stamina
• 3+ years’ experience and/or certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a plus

This is a union position, enrollment in union required. Health insurance, dental insurance, pension benefits and paid vacation provided through Union Contract and 100% paid for by employer. A total package of $42.00 - $44.00 hourly, compensation based on experience and Union Contract.
