As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU at Norman Regional Hospital, I provide critical care to patients with complex medical conditions, particularly those related to cardiac issues. My responsibilities include assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal outcomes for critically ill patients. With a commitment to patient safety, I engage in continuous training and education to maintain competencies in advanced cardiac life support and critical care practices.
Overview:Norman Regional Hospital ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. NRHS ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures/diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. The ICU also provides care to other critically ill patients- including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. An ICU RN is highly skilled to rapidly assess a patient’s condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals. The RN should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools.
Comprehensive and inclusive training and for new graduate RN. 12 week orientation with a designated preceptor.
