We seek a Senior Innovation Engineer to join Amazon Logistics (AMZL) and lead the implementation of new automation technologies across our North American Delivery Station Network.
As a member of the Worldwide Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team, you will define, test, validate, and implement robotics and automation systems throughout our delivery station network.
We need an entrepreneurial engineer who combines expertise in robotics with strong engineering, planning, and analytical capabilities.
You will:
- Lead end-to-end robotics and automation implementation projects
- Partner with Process Engineering teams
- Collaborate with Operations leaders
- Work closely with Facilities and Engineering teams
- Drive advanced robotics technology across Amazon's last mile network
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Product teams and Global Engineering to drive automation requirements in delivery stations
- Evaluate process paths for automation potential based on labor, cost, safety, and performance metrics
- Develop business cases for new automation solutions
- Create pilot programs and define success metrics for proof of concepts
- Design technical documentation including flow diagrams, layouts, and installation details
- Track and analyze lessons learned to improve future automation systems
- Lead integration planning for material handling equipment automation
- Work with simulation teams to validate new automation concepts
- Champion AMZL in cross-functional teams developing future technologies (robotics, IoT, automation)
- Develop service and maintenance procedures for field teams
A day in the life
You will ideate and bring to life new technologies for AMZL. Your day could include activities ranging from working with new vendors on developing concepts for AMZL with automation and robotics technology, to being in the field and learning the challenges that associates face. You would build and validate prototypes in our Innovation Center to enable fast-design iterations. You will demonstrate through simulation and data the actual benefits of the new technologies integration in the field bringing your entrepreneurial and innovative spirit at disposal of the team. You would write a business case and work with stakeholders to build a case for piloting new technology. You could dive deep into understanding how the tech influences AMZL processes and the associate’s lives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
- Hands on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes
- Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and ability to apply them to product design
- Organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams
- Experience communicating concepts and writing technical documents
- Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment
- Experience with full lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet associated milestones
- Experience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems
