Position Overview
We are seeking Long-Term Certified Special Education Teachers to join a supportive educational environment in a public school setting. This role focuses on working with students aged 2-15 years old, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will create a structured and engaging classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement customized lesson plans that support individual learning needs
Modify instruction to accommodate diverse student abilities
Provide behavioral management and foster a positive learning environment
Monitor, evaluate, and document student progress
Collaborate with a team of educators, therapists, and support staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Participate in meetings and professional development to ensure best practices in special education
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
At least 3 months of teaching experience (including student teaching, internships, etc.)
Valid state-issued Special Education certification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred experience working with students with a range of disabilities
State-Specific Requirements (Massachusetts)
To work as a Special Education Teacher in Massachusetts, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education with an emphasis on special education
Certifications & Testing: Pass required state licensure exams
Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks, including fingerprinting, are required
Academic Verification: Proof of completing an accredited educator preparation program
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in repositioning students as needed
Comfortable with prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
Adaptability to various classroom and school environments
Potential exposure to allergens, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
