Job Description

Terry Family Funeral Home, is currently seeking a Full Time Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer to provide customer service in all areas of helping client families following the loss of a loved one. Provides exemplary personalized and professional service. Interacts with the family to fulfill death care needs. Ensures customer needs are addressed.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Arranges and conducts funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized and caring manner consistent with company policies and procedures
  • Performs embalming services
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds, bend and physically perform the duties required of a funeral director/embalmer
  • Adheres to all company and regulatory requirements
  • Works on an on-call schedule
  • Understands schedule/tasks may need to be re-prioritized frequently and without notice causing staff to work overtime to complete

Cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which may include:

  • Removals and transfers
  • Lifting of deceased human remains
  • Performs technical embalming services and cosmetology
  • Dressing and casketing
  • Coordinating and assisting with funeral service and visitation
  • Delivery of flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families

Performs or assists with funeral services by:

  • Driving funeral vehicles
  • Ushering and assisting at chapel and church services and at the cemetery
  • Delivering flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families
  • Assists with the maintenance of vehicles, the facility and property
  • Receive caskets and other funeral home supplies as well as place into inventory and carrying out any other responsibilities that may be reasonably delegated by management

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education :

  • Must be a licensed funeral director and embalmer or the ability to obtain a state license.
  • Requires graduation from an accredited school of embalming or mortuary science.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as a licensed funeral director/embalmer

Compensation/Benefits:

  • PAID: SIGN ON BONUS!
  • PAID: $28.00 - $32.00/hr DOE
  • PAID: Time Off - 3 weeks/year
  • PAID: 9 Holidays

  • PAID: Stipend $ personal cell use
  • PAID: Stipend $ for every on call shift

  • PAID: *Stipend if employee declines health insurance coverage

Schedule :

  • Day shift: Office open 9-4pm, staff to stay until 5pm if necessary to finish up for the day or until 6pm if working a viewing

  • Holidays: (On-call rotation)
  • On call: Nights/weekend rotation
  • Weekend: (service/arrangment on employee scheduled weekend requires working on site if nothing

scheduled, employee is on call only)

Education :

  • Associate

Experience :

  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Funeral Directing: 2 year (Preferred)

License / Certification :

  • Funeral Director/Embalmer License (Required)
  • Driver's License with clean record (Required)
